Who has best recruiting class in Big Ten?
As the 2009 College football comes closer, recruiting is a big deal for most of the BCS conference schools. Ohio State and Michigan usually have the best recruits in the Big Ten, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Penn State have gotten good recruits as well. Ohio State seems to have the best recruiting class so far, with two five stars in linebacker Dorian Bell and cornerback Corey Brown. Ohio State also has fifteen four stars, the best four stars seems to be Jamaal Berry or Jack Mewhort, Jamaal Berry was ranked the fifth best running back in the nation and Jack Mewhort has been rated as the second best center in the nation. Michigan, however, has brought in some good recruits also. Michigan has got only one five star in defensive tackle William Campbell, but they have twelve four stars, probably the best in fifth ranked Dual threat Quarterback in Tate Forcier or in third ranked safety Justin Turner. There is still plenty of recruiting going on, and I will be writing more on recruiting as it goes on.

Big Ten College Football next year
Now that the 2008 College football season is over, what can we expect from the Big Ten next year? My dad and I believe that Ohio State will be great next year, despite the losses of Chris Wells and James Laurinaitis. We think Terrelle Pryor will be the next Tim Tebow and the trenches for Ohio State will have veteren players. Michigan will also have to find a way to go back to their winning ways, I think the key to their offense is a running QB. Threet and Sheridan have gained no reputation in handling a spread offense, and I think there needs to be a better QB for Michigan. This a quick preview from me, and my dad and I will be writing more on the Big Ten and other conferences.

Good stats?
Where can a person find sports statistics online for free?
We are currently getting our data from Wikipedia and sports websites si.com and espn.com. But it would be nice to find a site that warehoused all data. Here are some of the best websites we have found so far:
http://www.pro-football-reference.com/
http://www.heisman.com/
http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/stats
http://www.collegefootballresource.com/
but none of these seem to have historical data. Frustrating.
Update: I found a couple more websites looking for historical ncaa football statistics.. Really good.

Big Ten Bowls
Well, it looked like a pretty bad bowl season for the Big Ten. The Big Ten's teams record in bowls this year was 1-6. The lone win came from a blowout in the Outback bowl where Iowa blasted South Carolina, 31-10. Although the Big Ten had crushing and disappointting losses, I was most disapointted by Penn State's loss in the Rose Bowl. They lost 38-24, which may seem close, but the halftime score was 31-7! Penn State did comeback in the second half, but that first half embarrassed the Big Ten badly. However, I was thrilled in Northwestern's OT loss and Ohio State's fourth quarter comeback loss. Despite those two heartbreaking losses, Northwestern and Ohio State proved they won't back down without a challenge.
